About Us
Hate Fighters Network is an international non-governmental association which was created in 2015 as the result of the work on the issue of combat against hate speech online through Hate Fighters program; this program gave the opportunity to young people to take active role in combat against this social phenomenon in local communities.
Mission of Hate Fighters Network is to empower young people to combat all violations of human rights on local, national and international level and be the agents of change for peaceful societies.
Vision of Hate Fighters Network: Network of youth organizations and young, empowered people as reliable members of peaceful and intercultural society.
Hate Fighters program has a basic idea to educate young people about combat against hate speech online, what hate speech online is, to recognize and report it, ways to sanction it etc, through: peer education, legal aspect, street art (graphics, hip hop and break dance, rap music and photography) and online activism. What is important is that the program was created by young people, with the support of the experts, so the set of peer education workshops was developed as well as a song and choreography “Stop Hate Speech”, as well as graphics (comics, illustrations, stencils etc) and photos that promote combat against hate speech. Next step that follows the education part is organization and taking part in the local actions that promote combat against hate speech online, so young people who participate in both segments become hate fighters. The activities are implemented everywhere through unique and same methodology. Hate Fighters contribute to National Campaigns against hate speech of Serbia and Macedonia, as well as to No Hate Speech Movement.
Hate Fighters Network is the initiative of KOM 018, Serbia and SPPMD, Macedonia, and besides these two organizations, network members became organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Chez Republic, Croatia, Argentina, Ghana, Turkey, Germany, Faculty of Law – Nis, Serbia. Organizations gathered around Hate Fighters program working on raising the awareness about the dangers of hate speech and promote active involvement of young people in the combat against hate speech through creative methods (photo, graphics, hip hop music and dance).
