Participants Blog – Power to Change – Training 1
Training course 1 within the project Power to Change which was supported by Erasmus + was held in Corato, Italy from 7th of January till 14th of January. Young people from three continents and seven countries, Serbia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Italy, Ghana and Argentina gathered together to learn, create and to fight against hate speech in order to build and strengthened their own capacities. During seven days of the training we as participants had amazing time and we learned so much not just about topics like fight against hate speech, discrimination and promotion of human rights but also we got familiar with so many different cultures.
Training course started with introductions to the project, organisation team and us, participants. We enjoyed getting to know each other and we prepared ourselves for the rest of the planned activities. During the thematic workshops we were learning, discussing and debating on topics like stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination, hate speech, human rights, social (un)equality and so many others that are closely connected to main topics. This part of the training was perfect base for what was coming, the creative workshops. We worked hard on the planning and developing the ideas for creative products. Three groups (photography, mobile reporting and music) created one song and video for the song, more than 20 concept photography and 6 mobile reporting videos. All products were created by participants and every one of them is based on promotion of positive human values. At the end, after learning and creating we planned how to promote and spread a word about importance of mutual understandings and raising awareness about human rights in Europe, South America and Africa. Local activities were planned and it was time to go back to our homes with full bellies and hearts with so many new memories and some new friends.
